My nephew Jeremy and his wife Leticia came to visit.

My talented new friend, Mike Smith was sporting a gift. I think it's fair to say that this is a pretty wide and colorful tie! Mike is a band director and is married to a band director.

The celebratory atmosphere was very edifying.
I was touched by the spirit and closeness of this congregation. As much as I enjoy large churches, it is difficult to maintain the same energy and dynamic that is possible with churches like this. This is another reason why small groups can be a blessing to the life of any church, as members seek to care for each another and build deeper relationships in Christ.
There is nothing better than being surrounded by joy-filled Christians. I recall many times on our singing cruises when other cruisers would look at our group of fun-loving Christians and wonder how we were having so much fun.
Simple experiences can be so much fun. Have you ever seen a little child who is mesmerized as the car goes through the car wash? I have memories from my childhood of going to the airport in Chicago to enjoy watching planes land and take off. These thoughts came to mind as our hosts were giving us a tour of the area. After driving through the Washburn Tunnel, we turned around to repeat the experience as if going on a roller coaster.

Of course, Pappasitos's is always a treat.

This monument marks the site of the Battle of San Jacinto.

It was very obvious how much their preparation before the workshop made all the difference in the quality of the experience. All ages were involved. How encouraging to see the excitement level of their young people!
We look forward to returning to Deer Park to witness their progress - they are already planning their second Praise & Harmony workshop. If you ever get an opportunity, I guarantee you will be blessed by getting to know these wonderful folks.
